Binoy Mascarenhas is Head of Integrated Transport at WRI India. He leads WRI India’s road safety program and also manages the integrated transport work area in Mumbai.
Binoy has worked on a number of transport and road safety initiatives across India and South-East Asia, including projects on street design, road safety audits, transit planning and design, bus rapid transit, public bicycle haring, transport policy and capacity development. Binoy was instrumental in facilitating the signing of an MoU between WRI India and the Government of Maharashtra to support the creation of a road safety action plan for the state. He played a key role in the launch of Equal Streets, a weekly, Car-Free Day program in Mumbai.
Binoy has over 11 years of experience, across the fields of sustainable urban planning, transport and analytics. He has previously worked with IL&FS IDC and Genpact, (formerly GE Capital). He holds a Masters in Urban-Regional Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and a Masters in Economics from Gokhale Institute, Pune. He completed his Bachelors in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
