Pawan Mulukutla is the Head of Integrated Transport at WRI India Sustainable Cities. Pawan is responsible for working with various stakeholders to provide technical support, sensitize sustainable development and build capacity. His area of expertise includes public transport, walking and cycling, road safety, transport demand management, new sustainable mobility, and mobility planning.
Pawan’s responsibilities include managing, guiding, and nurturing a qualified team of mobility experts and assisting in making strategic project discussion. He embodies WRI India Cities' approach on urban mobility through direct engagement and interaction with cities, national governments and other global actors. Pawan plays an instrumental role in significant fundraising efforts, particularly on multi-sector topics, from developing the opportunity and pitching the proposal, to stewarding the donor. He also convenes experts from different areas of work to identify synergies across projects, establish strategic offers and develop processes to fortify communication and collaboration across areas. Pawan work very closely with mobility start-ups towar integrating public-private transportation solutions of shared, electric and connected solutions. He co-created the STAMP Accelerator program and Better Bus Challenge.
Pawan is a regular columnist in the leading newspapers in Bengaluru on city planning and mobility solutions. He recently authored the paper in Journal of Sustainable Urbanization, Planning and Progress on “Enhancing Bengaluru’s public transport network: approaches and challenges.” He is also the principal author for “Bus Karo 2.0- Case Studies from India” on the current status of city bus systems in India.
