Prerna is Manager for Sustainable Cities, WRI India. Her work lies at the connection of urban planning and sustainable transport. She makes technical inputs in urban development and accessibility projects and helps form and sustain partnerships with government and non-governmental organizations involved in urban development with objective to ensure on ground change. She works on transit-oriented development projects, the scaling up of the Raahgiri initiative in Delhi, Neighbourhood Improvement Plans, toolkits, informing policy and informing design approach of large developments for adopting a sustainable planning approach.
Prior to WRI, Prerna worked for government, non-governmental organizations and private/corporate organizations. She brings about 11 years of experience in research, academics and implementing planning and architecture projects. Her portfolio had projects such as Master Plans, Area & Integrated Development Plans, feasibility studies and construction projects largely in northern India with more focus on Delhi and NCR.
Prerna has a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Nagpur University, a Master’s Degree in Planning (Housing) from School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi, India and a diploma in Principles and Practices of Real Estate from Indian Institute of Real Estate, India. Besides that, she has completed courses on Comprehensive Natural Disaster Risk Management Framework, Safe Cities and Financial Strategies for Managing the Economic Impacts of Natural Disasters from the World Bank Institute (WBI) & National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM). In addition she has undertaken courses on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP) and Network Management from The SOLUTIONS consortium.
