Sonja Heiles is Operations Associate for the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, WRI’s global program that aims to influence 200 cities by 2019. She facilitates the management and operations for WRI Cities’ large and growing project portfolio. Sonja oversees Cities program’s subgrants and helps manage the sub granting and contracting processes.
Sonja has a solid background on project management and business development having worked for a variety of government funded development projects before joining WRI. During her graduate studies, Sonja interned for the City of New York’s Office of Management Budget with the Department of Environmental Protection task force.
Sonja holds a Masters of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and a B.A. in Government and Environmental Studies from Georgetown University. She is originally from Brooklyn, New York.
