Umang is a Senior Project Associate – Urban Transport at EMBARQ India. He coordinates technical support for bus operations and non-motorized transport projects. He is based in New Delhi and works closely with the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) to help improve the quality of public bus services in the city. He also leads FedEx’s Vehicles and Fuels program in India. Umang made significant contributions to improving the bus systems in the city of Jaipur which was recognized as “WRI’s Top Institutional Excellence Outcome for 2011”. Umang has over 3 years experience in the field of urban transport. Prior to working at EMBARQ India, he was involved in consultancy projects in the field of public transport. Chief among these include preparing a bus operations plan for the city of Bathinda, Punjab and also preparing RPF and concession agreements for various mass rapid transport services in India. Umang has been formally trained as an economist and a transport planner. He holds a Masters degree in Economics, and a Masters degree in Planning with a specialization in Transport from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
