The 1st African Forum on Urban Forests is organized by FAO and UN-Habitat, and will be held from Monday 5 July to Friday 9 July 2021.

The main programme of the conference will consist of four sessions of 3 hours each from Monday to Thursday, and one session of 5 hours on Friday (including group discussions). Special sessions and side events might be organized on those same days, before or after the main sessions of the conference.

The event is intended to be a technical meeting to exchange experiences and lessons learned, and to discuss possible long-term collaboration on the development of strategies for a greener, healthier, and happier future for African cities. Wanjira Mathai, Vice President and Regional Director for Africa at WRI, will be a keynote speaker along with Aklilu Fikresilassie, Director of Thriving Resilient Cities at WRI Africa and Representative of WRI in Ethiopia.

The full programme of the conference is available for download and will be regularly updated prior to the event on the webpage of the FAO Urban Forestry Programme here.
