Mayors Summit - Cities of the Future - EMBARQ Brasil 10 Year Anniversary
The tenth anniversary of EMBARQ Brasil comes at a pivotal moment for Brazil's urban future. Brazilian cities are growing, their resources stretched, and their capacity to deliver sustainable urban mobility solutions in jeopardy. Despite these challenges, federal investment and national-level policy make 2015 a year of immense opportunity for Brazilian cities to reverse the growing trend of auto-dependency and build cities for people, not cars.
EMBARQ Brasil's Mayors Summit—Cities of the Future—will build on the insight and knowledge of visionary mayors who transformed their cities for the better. Joining the event are former mayors Jaime Lerner (Curitiba, Brazil); Ken Livingstone (London, United Kingdom); and Enqrique Peñalosa (Bogotá, Colombia), with more to be confirmed.
The event coincides with the 450th anniversary of the city of Rio de Janeiro, a key strategic partner for the event and leading city in prioritizing sustainable, low-carbon development.
