Indian cities are growing at a phenomenal rate. Urbanization is expected to go from 33 percent to well beyond 40 percent in the next decade alone. To aid people’s movement and access to jobs and services, India is investing billions of dollars on mass transit in urban areas. However, the success of mass transit depends on providing first and last-mile connectivity leading to safe and livable environments. This is a critical component of creating a successful transit-oriented development.
