Webinar: Integrating timetabling and vehicle scheduling to analyze the trade-off between well-timed transfers and fleet size
Join ALC-BRT Centre of Excellence for a webinar on optimizing timetabling and vehicle scheduling in transit systems. EMBARQ is a member of ALC - BRT Centre of Excellence, helping develop a new framework for planning, design, financing, implementation and operation of BRT in different urban areas.
What
Dr. Omar Ibarra, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile will present on integrating timetabling and vehicle scheduling to analyze the trade-off between quality of service and operation costs.
When
Friday, August 1, 2014, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM EDT
Where
Interested participants can register online for the webinar. For those unable to participate, the full presentation will be available online after the webinar is completed.
More information
In transit systems there is a trade-off between the level of service and operating costs. At the planning level, for a given network design, this trade-off is captured by timetabling (TT) and vehicle scheduling (VS) problems. In this talk, Dr. Ibarra will address the TT problem that maximizes the number of passengers benefited by well-timed transfers and the VS problem that minimizes the fleet size. He will show his team's proposed optimization formulations for the TT and VS problems and analyze the trade-off between passenger transfers and the fleet size in terms of Pareto fronts.
