About The Event

Every two years, WRI holds its Courage to Lead Dinner in New York to recognize outstanding ideas, people, and organizations committed to protecting the planet and improving people’s lives.

At this year’s Dinner, WRI and Stephen Ross announced the inaugural winner of the WRI Ross Prize for Cities. The Prize is a new global competition created to spotlight exemplary real-world examples of urban transformation and to encourage replication of those lessons learned around the world. The evening also featured a town-hall type conversation about how we create tomorrow’s cities and a special tribute to Hudson Yards, the largest private development project in the history of the United States and the largest in New York since Rockefeller Center.

The funds raised through table and ticket sales at this dinner will help supply the working capital required to grow the Prize and ensure WRI remains a strong, efficient, and results-driven organization with 800 staff and experts working in 60 countries. WRI combines world-class analysis, bold solutions, and innovative partnerships to tackle today’s most urgent environment and development challenges.
