Building Efficiency Initiative Launches New Online Knowledge Hub

Today, the Building Efficiency Initiative (BEI) of WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities announces the launch of a new resource for knowledge on building efficiency at http://www.buildingefficiencyinitiative.org/. The online platform will equip policy makers, building owners and managers, practitioners and other professionals with the tools and information they need to create better buildings for better cities.  

The website is the latest step in the partnership between WRI and Johnson Controls. It will serve as a hub for both the hundreds of existing resources from Johnson Controls’ Institute for Building Efficiency and new knowledge products from WRI and its partners.

Buildings currently consume nearly 40 percent of global energy and account for approximately one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions. Efficiency improvements are critical to combatting climate change while also supporting local economies and making cities more livable for all.

The BEI works to accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions for efficient, sustainable buildings. The Initiative connects city-level decision makers with partners and provides critical information for improving buildings. The BEI’s practical resources and expertise with on-the-ground engagement help cities successfully create policies, utilize technologies, and develop innovative investment strategies.
