Call for presenters: “Future Leaders in Sustainable Transportation” session at Transforming Transportation 2014
Are you passionate about sustainable transportation? Do you want to share your thoughts on urban transportation challenges or solutions in your city? Would you like to present your thesis, technical report, or work-in-progress paper to a large and diverse audience? The “Future Leaders in Sustainable Transportation” session at Transforming Transportation 2014 (#TTDC14) is calling for presenters to share innovative ideas with our 500+ registered attendees on January 16-17, 2014 in Washington, DC.
“Future Leaders in Sustainable Transportation” PechaKucha session
The first ever “Future Leaders in Sustainable Transportation” session at the Transforming Transportation 2014 conference will provide a platform for young minds to share transformative solutions to the challenges of sustainable urban mobility. Transforming Transportation is an annual event co-organized by the World Bank and EMBARQ that convenes the global transport community to catalyze widespread adoption of sustainable transport solutions. This year's conference will look at opportunities for business and city leaders to help advance the sustainable transport agenda for cities.
For the “Future Leaders in Sustainable Transport” session, we are looking for innovative concepts and fresh thinking from university students, urban planners, and transport engineers. We will select eight panelists and give each one 400 seconds for a PechaKucha style presentation. The presentations we are looking for are fun, creative and thought provoking. The session will also allow time for networking and discussion between presenters and attendees.
All presentations will be posted online and featured on TheCityFix.com, the blog produced by EMBARQ, which covers the latest in sustainable urban mobility and planning.
Presentation guidelines
Presenters are required to use the PechaKucha 20x20 format. PechaKucha 20x20 is a simple presentation format in which the presenter shows 20 images, each for 20 seconds, and speaks as the images advance automatically. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Leadership and governance: building the will and capacity to implement sustainable transport solutions
- Finance: leveraging private finance, climate finance, and national investments to fund “the future we want”
- Mid-size cities: looking beyond top-tier cities to examine needs for the next wave of urban transport development
- Data and technology: exploring the use of innovative technology and big data to engage citizens and optimize transport solutions
- Traffic safety: on the many intersections of safety and sustainability
