EMBARQ Andino advances bus systems in Arequipa, looks to other cities in Peru
After several months of negotiation between representatives of the City of Arequipa, the city’s Office of Road Traffic and Transportation, and the Integrated Transport System provider SIT-Arequipa, EMBARQ Andino was awarded a contract to provide technical assistance to make Arequipa’s bus system more functional, and more integrated. This announcement recognizes the expertise of EMBARQ Andino - one of the six centers from the EMBARQ Network - and will positively affect the pre-operational phase of the long-awaited integrated bus system in Arequipa.
A breakthrough for bus systems in Peru
EMBARQ Andino director, Jorge Jara, called it, “a breakthrough for EMBARQ Andino and Peru,” and “a recognition of the professionalism that the EMBARQ network is committed to bringing to the region.” The contract will support specialized technical assistance for the integrated transport system.
Bringing the highest international standards to Peru
With EMBARQ onboard in Arequipa, Jara looks forward to the development of the partnership, for the benefit of Arequipa, building a case for advanced bus systems for other cities in Peru. Jara added that his team’s, “technical assistance and expertise will ensure Arequipa’s bus system will operate on the highest international standards.”
