EMBARQ Turkey Director to promote sustainable cities to Turkish investors
Arzu Tekir, Director of EMBARQ Turkey, will be making the case for investment in sustainable mobility and its numerous benefits for Turkish cities at the 2013 Private Equity and Venture Capital Summit in Istanbul on June 21. Attendees will include investors and venture capitalists, creating a valuable opportunity to showcase how increased investment in communication technologies and sustainable transport has the potential to put Turkey on a more sustainable path.
Focusing on the theme, “Accessing New Markets - Developing New Opportunities,” the conference will tackle the private equity and venture capital question from two sides; first, by discussing what investors need to commit to deals and how they can shape their products to the Turkish market; and second, how Turkish companies make their offerings attractive for investors.
One of Tekir’s crucial points for the conference is making the connection between sustainability and venture capitalism clear. Increased investment in sustainable mobility would help save lives while simultaneously stimulating the economy. Currently, the cost of traffic crashes in Turkey is approximately more than US$15 billion per year, according to the Ministry of Health. Sustainable mobility is an important aspect of creating sustainable cities because it generates more money for businesses.
EMBARQ Turkey is currently developing the conference agenda, together with other conference partners, including British-based UK Trade & Investment, the Turkish Prime Ministry Investment Support and Promotion Agency (ISPAT); Endeavor, a global entrepreneurship non-profit; the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey; and Bezen & Partners law firm.
