Fei Li: Challenging the Current Parking Standard
Ms. Fei Li will evaluate and challenge the current parking standard, a prevalent vehicle planning policy that is often overlooked, through data collection and analysis to fill the research gap. Through this, policy recommendations for more efficient and sustainable planning regulations can be made.
"As a student researcher I value every chance to work with and learn from the community of practitioners and scholars,” said recipient Li. “I am excited about receiving the Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarship for the mentorship, the intellectual support and the networking opportunities it promises to help develop my research. I am truly honored to be granted this great opportunity."
Li is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Public Administration at New York University. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Art and also in Engineering in Urban Planning from Peking University in Beijing, and a Master’s degree in Geography from Hong Kong Baptist University in Hong Kong.
The Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarship celebrates the vision and bold challenges to conventional wisdom that EMBARQ founder Lee Schipper gave to the field of energy efficiency. The scholarship awards two extraordinary candidates up to US$10,000 each to advance transformative research in efficient and sustainable transport. Winning proposals will advance the field through iconoclastic contributions to data collection, problem diagnosis through data evaluation, policy analysis stemming through this evaluation and a comparative analysis across disciplines and international boundaries. The scholarship is international in nature, and is open to researchers and students of all national origins and fields.
