Sudhir Gota: Examining the Use of Lee Schipper’s ASIF Framework Model in Asia
Sudhir Gota’s research will focus on the current ASIF framework in Asia, or “activity, “mode share,” “intensity,” and “fuel mix,” and its usage to determine what existing parameters could be causing a high fluctuation in results. In doing so, the ASIF usage can become more credible and consistent. This framework was initially developed by Schipper himself and created a way to understand the different components of transport energy use in order to calculate emissions.
“It is my dream to work on a research that would not only pay a tribute to Lee Schipper’s memory but also result in policy transformations in developing countries,” said recipient Gota. “This scholarship provides me a platform to transform my dream into a reality.”
Sudhir Gota specializes in environmental issues related to transport and has experience in transport data crunching, developing models and methodologies on transport emissions for different types of projects, policies and investments. Gota has propelled bringing “green freight” and “walkability” into agendas in Asia through research and advocacy. He is currently a Technical Manager within Transportation at Clean Air Asia.
The Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarship celebrates the vision and bold challenges to conventional wisdom that EMBARQ founder Lee Schipper gave to the field of energy efficiency. The scholarship awards two extraordinary candidates up to US$10,000 each to advance transformative research in efficient and sustainable transport. Winning proposals will advance the field through iconoclastic contributions to data collection, problem diagnosis through data evaluation, policy analysis stemming through this evaluation and a comparative analysis across disciplines and international boundaries. The scholarship is international in nature, and is open to researchers and students of all national origins and fields.
