You may notice that EMBARQ.org is sporting a bold, new look today. You guessed it, we've overhauled our website!

We've redesigned this site with you - the user - in mind, giving you better access to our range of publications, videos, projects, and other materials. Read on to learn more about how our new site lets you engage with our experts, explore our projects and publications, and better understand our impact.

Why a redesign?

EMBARQ has grown significantly since we first came online in 2006 - and so has our audience. We now have five EMBARQ centers - in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, and Turkey - over 170 international staff, influence in 120 cities, and nearly 150 active projects. With that growth comes new products. We've published new research, shot new videos, compiled new photo galleries, and written countless articles along the way. Our new look and structure makes this array of resources more accessible.

How does the redesign benefit you?

We focused on making the new EMBARQ.org more visual, navigable, and user-friendly than our previous site. In particular, visitors can:

• Learn about our projects: Our previous site didn't contain the latest and greatest information on EMBARQ's work to help cities make sustainable transport and urban development a reality. Users can now explore a (growing) list of our projects, categorized by the four areas in which we work - Integrated Transport, Health and Road Safety, Urban Development and Accessibility, and Transport and Climate - and how we create impact on the ground.
• Use mobile devices: We've entered the 21st century, and our website is now mobile-friendly. Our responsive design allows for better viewing and navigation on mobile devices like smart phones and tablets.
• Engage with our experts: EMBARQ has built a talented and dedicated staff, with expertise ranging from economics to urban planning to communications and more - and we want you to get in touch! It's now easier than ever to find the EMBARQ staff working in your area on the issues you care about.

What hasn’t changed?

We’re not changing the way we do things. EMBARQ will continue to advance its mission of catalyzing and helping to implement environmentally, socially, and financially sustainable urban transport and urban development solutions to improve quality of life in cities. We will continue to promote and scale-up solutions for resilient, livable cities and sustainable mobility options, and the products we produce in doing so are still held to the highest standards of excellence.

What is changing is how we present those products. By creating a website that’s more navigable, informative, and user-friendly, we're making our resources readily available to the decision-makers that rely on them. In time, we hope our website will help inform, inspire, and expand our impact.

What's next?

We will continue to add fresh content to this site, providing updates on the status of our projects and their impacts and making new publications and resources available. You can subscribe to our EMBARQ Network News and Announcements to receive regular updates on new projects and resources from around the EMBARQ Network. Finally, the EMBARQ centers are getting new websites, too! 2014 will see the relaunch of websites for the five EMBARQ centers, providing access to content and information about our work on the ground in local languages.
