COPENHAGEN, Denmark (October 20, 2018) – Buildings in Colombia and Mexico may get a green makeover thanks to expanded support for energy efficiency programs after winning a $600,000 award that transitions buildings at scale to save energy and prepare cities for a net zero future announced today at the Copenhagen P4G Summit.

RELEASE: Bogotá Doubles Down on Efficiency Efforts in Phase 2 of the Building Efficiency Accelerator

BOGOTÁ, Colombia (October 3, 2018) — Today, Bogotá announced a new policy for more energy-efficient construction that is expected to reduce energy and water use in new buildings by 20 percent and 30 percent, respectively, when fully implemented.
Bogotá will integrate the energy and water saving goals of Colombia’s national building efficiency code into the city’s master plan. The city is also releasing the draft implementation protocol for the policy, which will allow it to properly implement the code.

SAN FRANCISCO (September 14, 2018) — WRI joined dozens of organizations, governments and businesses at the first Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) to support building efficiency measures as a major element of sustainable development.
At the midway point between the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement and major 2020 milestones built into the agreement, GCAS is designed to encourage governments to “step up” their climate commitments. During three days of panels and workshops, WRI experts reinforced the need for new approaches to building efficiency.

Rising sea levels threaten Miami and Mumbai alike. Now, a coalition of cities has emerged to protect their residents from these threats by deploying a highly underrated resource: forests.
