EMBARQ India, in collaboration with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), Government of Karnataka, will be hosting the second edition of its annual conference, CONNECTKaro. The event will be held at the ITC Gardenia in Bangalore, India on March 10 and 11, 2014.

EMBARQ co-organized the 11th annual Transforming Transportation conference with the World Bank and a team of partner organizations on January 16 and 17, 2014. Hosted at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., this year’s event was the largest in the history of Transforming Transportation.

WASHINGTON—Michael R. Bloomberg was appointed today to serve as Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change to the United Nations. In this role, Bloomberg will support United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to mobilize action among cities to combat climate change. As a Special Envoy, Bloomberg will consult with other mayors in order to raise a level of political commitment and concrete action.

For the next two weeks, the EMBARQ Network will be participating in the nineteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) taking place in Warsaw, Poland. EMBARQ, the sustainable urban transport and urban planning program of the World Resources Institute (WRI), will have several experts leading and speaking at side events throughout the conference.

On June 21, 2013, Mexico took a big step towards a low-carbon economy and improved public health by implementing a new fuel efficiency standard for light vehicles in Mexico – the first fuel efficiency standard in Latin America. EMBARQ Mexico played a major role in developing this new standard, writing draft regulation, proposing mechanisms for economic flexibility, and assisting the government of Mexico during the negotiation process.
