Brook Guzder-Williams
Bio
Brook is the Chief Data Scientist for WRI’s Forest Program. He is a member of Data Lab, currently working on the FORMA data product and on Global Forest Watch, a platform that unites satellite technology, open data, and crowdsourcing to guarantee access to timely and reliable information about forests.
Brook has enjoyed several careers before joining WRI. He was as a string theorist and was awarded an International Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Science Foundation. He also worked in microfinance in Peru. For the past several years Brook has worked in technology in San Francisco.
Brook has a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California Santa Barbara and an undergraduate degree in both physics and mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder.
