Juan Miguel Velásquez
Bio
Juan Miguel Velásquez is an associate transport planner in WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and EMBARQ, a signature initiative of the World Resources Institute. He manages global projects, evaluating the impact of transport projects, improving decision making for transit vehicles and fuels, planning sustainable urban transport solutions, improving public transport quality, and supporting the Centre of Excellence in bus rapid transit. Juan Miguel works closely with our international offices in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, and Turkey. He also supports work planning, fundraising and coordinating partnerships around the world.
Prior to joining WRI, Juan Miguel was a researcher and lecturer at the Regional and Urban Sustainability Group (SUR) at Universidad de los Andes, in Bogotá, Colombia where he worked on a variety of topics from road safety, urban development, transport economics and policy. He also worked as a consultant planning and implementing a variety of urban transport projects and providing policy recommendations in Colombia.
He is a civil engineer from Universidad de los Andes and holds a Master of Science in Transport from Imperial College and University College in London.
