Lorena Baca

Director of Development, WRI México

Lorena serves as Development Director for WRI Mexico and Colombia. She is  responsible for the funding strategy for the organization and building partnerships with bilateral donors, aid agencies, corporations, foundations and individuals. The key for Mexico’s fundraising strategy has been to work on the diversification of funds for a healthy sustainability. Among her responsibilities, Lorena has built a network of partnerships that allowed WRI to expand its agenda.

In her past experience, working for the US Embassy and with a close relation with the UK Embassy as a main partner enabled her to have a deep understanding regarding diplomacy and how to navigate in this sector.

Also she made efforts to reach out to new donors, including corporations and foundations, who have supported the consolidation of the institution and the achievement of our outcomes. In her previous job, she worked closely with one of Latin America’s most important philanthropists in the education sphere, with whom she learned a great deal about how to manage relationships with individuals effectively.

She has a degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master's in Cultural Management from the University of Barcelona, as well as two postgraduate degrees in Museum and Education from the same Spanish university and Conservation of Cultural Heritage from the University of Florence.
