Manal Khan is Communications Lead for UrbanShift, a WRI Ross Center program supporting sustainable and inclusive urban development across 23 cities in the global South. She manages the program's communications strategy, storytelling efforts and social media platforms.
Prior to joining WRI, Manal worked as a writer and editor at National Geographic's sustainable travel company. Before that, she served as creative director at a marketing agency in Madrid, Spain. She has worked in independent broadcast media in New York City, as well as in development communications at a USAID-supported nonprofit in Pakistan.
Manal holds a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Social Sciences from the Lahore University of Management Sciences. She lives with her husband and houseplants in Silver Spring, MD, where she manages her condo building's community garden and composting initiative.
