Prayash Giria is a Senior Project Associate with the Capacity Building team, where he supports the design and delivery of knowledge and skill-building channels. He currently anchors WRI India’s capacity building programme for AMRUT cities in multiple states, and WRICitiesHub.org, an online platform focused on sharing and disseminating urban knowledge.
Prior to joining WRI India, Prayash worked in habitat-focused non-profits and design practices as a grant-maker, researcher, urban designer and architect. Key initiatives he has been a contributor to include the India window of the global Urban Youth Fund; Delhi’s nomination to UNESCO for World Heritage Site status; and Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront Development scheme.
Prayash holds a MSc in Urban Development Planning from the Development Planning Unit at University College London (UCL), where he was a co-author on published researches on community-led slum upgrading in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and strategic action plans for tackling the ongoing gentrification of eastern London. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Architecture from School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi.
Prayash is also a published photographer and a competitive quizzer. He lives in Delhi with his wife and extended family. In his free time, he enjoys reading and watching travelogues.
