Ryan is a Research Analyst for WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, where he conducts and coordinates research on various urban mobility and efficiency topics. Ryan also helps author reports, briefs, and other knowledge products and publishes content for WRI's online blog, TheCityFix.
Prior to joining WRI, Ryan worked at a transportation engineering firm in Los Angeles, where he conducted transportation research, forecast travel patterns, and determined transportation demand management solutions for various projects. Ryan also worked as an editor for an academic transportation journal (ACCESS Magazine), served as the Finance Chair for the Los Angeles chapter of the Young Professionals in Transportation, and worked as a consultant on a Bus Rapid Transit project in Ahmedabad, India.
Ryan holds a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles. Ryan completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies and Planning and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics.
In his free time, Ryan loves to travel by bicycle; he has currently pedaled across three continents (with a lifelong goal of bicycling across every continent) and he maintains two websites devoted towards promoting long-distance bicycle travel. Ryan is also an avid baseball fan and enjoys watching games with family and friends.
