Shafaq Choudry
Bio
Shafaq Choudry is Senior Manager in Global Strategy, Policy, and Engagement at NUMO, the New Urban Mobility alliance, hosted by WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. She works to develop strategic approaches, equitable policies, and inclusive outreach strategies for city interventions with “P4s” – public, private, and people partnerships.
Prior to joining NUMO, Shafaq worked as an Urban Planning and Social Impact consultant on strategic planning, civic engagement, and city-wide program initiatives between public sector, non-profits, and marginalized communities. She formerly led local and national initiatives on equitable and accessible park and public space development at the Trust for Public Land and managed the Leadership in Community Resilience Program at the National League of Cities. Shafaq brings nearly 15 years of experience in design, urban planning, and community development across the U.S. and extends her research expertise and technical support to disaster resilience, transportation, and public space revitalization in South Asia and Latin America.
Shafaq holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and a Master's in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California Los Angeles. In 2016, she earned a Global Urbanization and Regional Development Certificate from the Luskin School of Public Affairs and was an International Practice Pathway Fellow in Panamá.
