Tanushree Venkatraman is the Communications Manager with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India. She oversees communication work for the road safety teams in India and manages and produces editorial and stakeholder communications content. Tanushree also assists Cities’ teams with editorial content media outreach.
Tanushree comes to WRI India with a rich experience in news reporting and editing. Previously, she has worked as a Senior Correspondent with the Hindustan Times where she wrote extensively on urban transport and infrastructure in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. She started her career as a Correspondent with The Indian Express, Mumbai, where she covered civic issues in the city. She has also interned with several newspapers and online portals like Mid-Day and Firstpost.
A post-graduate in Mass Communication from the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune, Tanushree also holds a master’s in fine arts (Bharata Natyam) from the Sastra University in Thanjavur. A classical dancer by training, Tanushree regularly participates in several dance dramas and stage shows. In her free time, she loves watching movies and reading to her three-year-old son, Advait.
